If you’re looking for a special gift for a student as they leave for university, there’s nothing better than combining something useful with an item they’ll really appreciate. No, we’re not talking about textbooks. The ideal present for a student is something that will make studying simpler – so computer-related gifts are perfect. As anyone who’s ever lived in halls will know, space in student digs comes at a premium, so choose your products wisely.
All-in-one PCs are an ideal space saving solution for student homes. No tower, no fussy mass of cables, just one sleek screen and a keyboard – preferably wireless. A computer with internet connection is a necessity for today’s students, as almost every university now communicates by email. Plus, it is imperative for research and accessing online lecture notes – allowing students to make the most of their time without having to book time in libraries and computer rooms which are always in high demand. Check out online retailers like Ebuyer who can deliver it straight to your door so you don’t even have to worry about the heavy lifting.
A printer is also a worthwhile gift for a student. Again, wireless models are much better than those with cables as they allow for less clutter in small rooms. Plus they can be set up anywhere – on a shelf or under the bed – basically wherever there is room.
Then there are tablet PCs, which are slowly becoming a staple requirement in households around the globe. This relatively new technology is ideal for student life as, with the addition of a keyboard, it enables quick and simple note-taking in lectures, which can be stored and transferred electronically, without the hassle of pen drives or lugging heavy laptops across campus.
Tablets now come in a range of different colours and sizes, which means you don’t have to spend a fortune on an iPad or Asus tablet if you don’t want to. The Lenovo IdeaPad K1 with attachable keyboard is a great student solution for under £200.
I love how you posted a picture of a printer. It’s probably one of the more thoughtful gifts you could give to an undergraduate – God knows they will be doing a lot of that.
However, people should do their research on the various printers available to them before settling on one. Most manufacturers are almost losing money on printers themselves, but make a ton of revenue from replacements, hence why I normally only buy printers with cheap consumables.
